Sufjan Stevens é um compositor norte-americano de influências variadas, associando-se tanto ao minimalismo de Steve Reich e Philip Glass quanto ao folk e à música eletrônica.

"Sufjan Stevens Invites You To Come On Feel The Illinoise" (ou, simplificadamente, "Illinois"), é o segundo álbum de seu ambicioso projeto musical em que visa fazer um álbum para cada estado norte-americano. Illinois é marcado por experimentações com fórmulas de compasso pouco usuais e com belíssimos arranjos de instrumentação. Analisando o álbum pela forma como foi subdivido em seu lançamento em vinil duplo, cada lado é composto por duas ou três músicas mais convencionais acompanhadas por duas ou três faixas mais curtas, geralmente estudos instrumentais, que contribuem para a coesão do álbum como um todo.
Um álbum que deve ser degustado com atenção e na integra, mas destaque para as ótimas "Come On! Feel The Illinoise!", "Chicago" e "The Predatory Wasp Of The Palisades Is Out To Get Us!".
